While I never let my rifle sit with Black Horn 209 I just thought that when I cleaned the bore with solvent, the residue I got out of it had to have some corrosive applications to it in a rifle. I agree, shoot it, and clean it.

APP, Shockey's Gold and Pinnacle are all made by the same company. So there is really nothing that makes one really superior compared to the others. Blackhorn 209 was handed to me. The mfg. claimed it was not a smokeless (nitrocellulose) powder.

I shot 90 grains of BH-209 with 250 grain bullet and black sabot and 209-A federal primers. You have to have a very hot 209 to ignite BH-209 but you can shoot 15-20 shots and never so much as to have to clean the rifle. So you need to clean any muzzle loader using Black Powder or a substitute soon after firing.
